Homemade Glass Cleaner Recipe

Dirty house windows can be a sign of a clumsy inhabitant. Who would not like a house with squeaky clean windows and streak free glass.

If you are on a daily cleaning spree like me, you would know how hard it is to keep our windows and glass tables dirt free.

We usually rely on chemical- based cleaners for cleaning our windows or glass tables but did you know besides harming the environment they can accentuate indoor pollution
.
Most commercial cleaners contain ammonia and isopropyl alcohol. Both of these chemicals are skin irritants. Isopropyl alcohol is highly flammable substance and is extremely toxic if ingested.

Ammonia, on the other hand can cause poisoning if you breathe in it. Let alone higher concentration even smaller concentrations can cause coughing with nose and throat irritation. So you can decide for yourself if you want to use these products with kids around.

I myself have tried several non-chemical formulas for window cleaning including distilled water, plain water, pure white vinegar etc. Finally, I found out the perfect ratio of water and white vinegar for cleaning windows or glass.

Here is what you will need:

  • An empty spray bottle
  • 2 1/4 cup tap water
  • 3 Tbsp white vinegar
  • 5-6 Drops essential oil of choice

Method:
Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle and use to clean windows, glass etc
